  Spent the weekend there and it was nice. The room was of decent size. The towel could use a bit of a touch up though. Other than that it was a comfortable stay. Air conditioner definitely a plus

  Stayed in 407. Very dirty and rough shape. We saw a rodent deterrent plug in the wall so we started looking around. Rodent feces under the cushions and chew holes in the fabric and bed. Bathroom was moldy and cobwebs on the ceiling in the bedroom. Seems like they don't clean this place properly. Breakfast was quite poor. The walls are paper thin so its pretty loud in the morning with traffic outside and other rooms. Good location but not great value for the price.

  This is a cheap hotel. Good location for what is a groovy neighbourhood, walkable from the waterfront. Rooms are tired, stairs somewhat grubby, breakfast limited. Staff warm, friendly, helpful and effective. Adequate parking for all rooms. Value for money, and given 3 stars due to the attitude and engagement of the staff which was unusually positive.

  1 of 2 sheets weren’t cleaned. Beds didn’t have a fitted sheet just one flat thrown over it. Breakfast consisted of bread, cereal and snacks. Not great- and the large towels are kid sized. While parking is available it is very limited and packed(large trucks would have an issue) wifi is slow in evenings. For the price paid could definitely find a better location. I personally wouldn’t be back even though staff was nice.

  Why am I giving Commons 5 stars when it's not that fancy you ask? Because it met my expectations of an older quaint property that was downtown and a good price. The sheets were clean and the air conditioning worked well. If you're uppity this is probably isn't the place for you. Ya the old gal could use a coat of paint and you need to run the shower for a while to get hot water the first morning, but staff was nice, continental breakfast looked good (something in NS water makes for less bitter coffee than back home) and you can walk to some pretty cool places that are nearby.
